Paphos weather averages

Compared to the rest of Cyprus, on average weather in Paphos is cooler by 2 to 3 degrees during the summer and warmer by 2 to 3 degrees during the winter, so you can consider Paphos as the privileged area of Cyprus when it comes to weather. On the other hand, humidity during the summer months is usually higher than in the rest of Cyprus. Increased humidity on hot days increases the feeling of discomfort, so on hot days with increased humidity (which are not uncommon in the summer) younger children and older people is advisable to avoid direct exposure to the sun in the middle of the day. This said, increased humidity usually appears between noon and 8-9 in the evening, after that time the weather is usually more tolerable.

Paphos can also be divided into three distinctive areas as regards temperature and climate - and not only - , the coastal Paphos area which covers the area from Kato Paphos tourist area and Paphos old town through to Coral Bay and Peyia, the inland mountainous Paphos which covers the central Paphos with its many beautiful villages and Polis region to the north.

Compared to the rest of coastal Cyprus, Paphos also is the most rainy area during the winter. The occasional very cold day is not unusual during the winter months. In the mountains surrounding Paphos, it is not unusual to have snowfall, but it does not happen every year, maybe once every 2 or 3 years, usually in January or early February.
Snowfall provides both the local people and visitors with the opportunity for an excursion to the snow, which usually lasts 1 to 3 days before it melts.

Things to do in Paphos by month

In addition to the things you can do in Paphos all year round, each month offers opportunities to do something interesting and different.

Just two quick examples, during August and September most of the villages in Paphos have their festival, which is a good way for the villagers (and all the visitors as well, everybody is welcome to go) to enjoy a fun day out, with food and music, and the entrance prices are very logical. Some of these festivals are more interesting than others, please see our dedicated article.

Easter and Christmas celebrations, Anthestiria (Flowers festival), depending on when the Easter holidays are during February or March, and the Carnival parade, are also very nice to see.
