Paphos zoo Peyia Cyprus

Paphos zoo Paphos zoo is located in Pegeia village, near Coral Bay. The zoo is half the way between Coral Bay and the small, beautiful Pegeia fishing port, at Agios Georgios Pegeias area. It is on a turn to your right as you drive towards Pegeia fishing port, so be careful not to miss the turn.

Brief history and animals at the zoo

The zoo initially started as a bids and reptiles park. Animals were added gradually at a later stage.

Because of its legacy, birds are a big portion of the animals in the park, there are over 700 birds from more than 160 species.
There are also many reptiles. Crocodiles are certainly the more impressive, but there are also snakes, lizards and turtles. Snakes include, among others all the species found in Cyprus.
Last but not least, the mammals. Nowadays there are many animals in the zoo, with lions, tigers, elephants and giraffes among the most impressive and popular. The zoo is very proud because of the baby tigers and giraffes that were born here.
Watching the animals is not the only thing you can do. The staff of the zoo perform shows with parrots and owls. It is a great attraction and it is really fun for all the family. No need to say, this is going to be the kids paradise, and a very nice and fun way to spend time with the family, especially if you have children with you.

How to get to the zoo, by bus or driving

There are three ways to visit to the zoo.Use your own car, use the public bus from Paphos or Kato Paphos, or use the dedicated zoo bus.
If you want to visit the zoo with your vehicle, then drive towards Peyia and Coral Bay area. When you approach Coral bay, at the small round about where you have to turn left for Coral Bay, just continue driving straight. The road takes you eventually at a very nice area, where you can see Agios Georgios Peyias church and the small but beautiful fishing port. This is also the road to take if you want to visit Akamas peninsula, Akamas national park and Avakas gorge.
Of course, you will not follow the street until the end, which is about 4 km in total. At about half the way, or about five minutes after passing from the round about, you will see the sign and turn right towards the zoo.
By public bus, there are many routes from both Paphos and Kato Paphos to the zoo. Actually, you will have to take any route going to Coral Bay, and from there take the special route that connects Coral bay with Agios Georgios Pegeias. Ask the driver to stop at the station for the zoo. There are many routes so the time will not be a problem, the busses are in good condition, they follow their time tables and they are cheap. Find routes and time tables on their website.
Finally, our recommendation, is to use the zoo's bus from Kato Paphos. You can find the relative information on their website.
