Polis Chrysochous Cyprus beaches. Best sandy beaches in Polis and Latchi
Poli Chrysochous Camping Site beach
Anassa Beach, Asprokremmos beach, Yiannakis beach, and Ttakkas beach
Blue flag beaches must meet many conditions in order to be included in this prestigious list. Among others, they are friendly to disabled persons, with clear waters, and they offer facilities like lifeguards, umbrellas and sunbeds, and change rooms. There are also kiosks for water and refreshments.
From Polis town it is not so easy, however, to visit the beaches on foot, as they are at a distance from the town. Polis camping site beach is the nearest beach, about 800 meters/15 minutes walk from Polis. Polis municipality beach is less than 2km from Polis. There is an exquisite stone path for pedestrians connecting Polis and Latchi. It follows the coastline and is surrounded by trees and plants, with wonderful views of Chrysochous Bay. It is a nice walk to visit the beach once or twice, but not easy for your everyday swim. Going to the beach could be an easy task, but returning back to Polis in the middle of the day is challenging. Tired of swimming and playing on the beach, and in the heat under the summer sun of Cyprus, I think it is a challenge to do every day.
So, from Polis town, you will need transportation to visit the beach. The most obvious way is the bus, which starts from Polis town and finishes at the Baths of Aphrodite. It passes every hour for most of the day, so it is very convenient to use. Car hire is another popular option, but something like an electric bicycle or a buggy is fine and fun.
Polis Municipal Beach
A very nice organized beach, between Polis and Latchi. It is a lengthy sandy beach with pieces of sand and places with pebbles. It is on the outskirts of Polis town, near Latchi. Polis Municipal beach and Latchi beach are on either side of the Latchi port. There are umbrellas and sunbeds for your convenience, and water sports for your fun at the beach. It is a Blue Flag beach, so there are facilities like lifeguards, change rooms, and access for disabled persons to the beach. There are bus connections from Polis, every hour or so, to easily visit the beach.
Latchi Beach
The small fishing port of Latchi separates Latchi beach and Polis Municipal Beach. The beach is to the west of the port, which means it is after the port. It is a very clean sandy beach, with pieces of pebbles. There are many mainly fish restaurants in the surrounding area, so you can combine your swim with a nice lunch or dinner. Another of the Blue Flag beaches of Polis. Like Polis beach, you can visit this beach easily by bus.
Poli Chrysochous Camping Site beach (Polis Dasoudi beach)
Another one of the Blue Flag beaches in Poli Chrysochous. This beautiful sandy beach lies directly under the Polis Camping Site. A large sandy beach, popular among locals, visitors, and, of course, those who prefer to stay at the camping site for their holidays. It is usually a quiet beach and the presence of the lifeguard helps to feel even more comfortable for families with young kids. There is a kiosk on the camping site for refreshments, snacks, and the likes, shaded by the eucalyptus trees of the camping site. It is the easiest beach to visit on foot, but there is also a bus passing by. Another highly recommended beach.
Anassa Beach, Asprokremmos beach, Yiannakis beach, and Ttakkas beach
Following the road to visit Aphrodite’s Baths, there are a few little but very nice beaches. They cannot be seen from the road, as they are hidden behind dense greenery, so if you plan to visit one of them, be careful to follow the signs.
Anassa Beach does not belong to the super-luxury hotel. All beaches in Cyprus are public and everybody can use them. Of course, you cannot use the hotel's umbrellas and sunbeds, but you can enjoy your bath here.
Asprokremmos Beach and Yiannakis Beach are the next two beaches you find as you are heading towards Aphrodite’s Baths. They are small, serene, peaceful beaches if you don’t like crowded beaches.
Ttakkas Beach
After Yiannakis beach, towards Loutra tis Aphroditis (Baths of Aphrodite), is the small, beautiful Ttakkas beach. It took its name from the nearby fish tavern, where you can enjoy fresh fish.
Baths of Aphrodite Beach
Near Baths of Aphrodite area there is a restaurant where you can eat or just have a refreshment. Located at an elevated position, it overlooks the Bay of Chrysochous, with the coastline of Polis area as background. If you are brave enough to go down the very steep slope to the sea, maybe 30 to 50 meters high, there is a nice beach to enjoy the sea. But remember, you will eventually have to go up this slope again😊
Beaches to the west of Polis town. The villages in this part of Poli Chrysochous are not yet very developed as tourist resorts. They offer mainly holiday villas and holiday apartments for rent. Their charm is that you live in the same way as the villagers, in a very friendly and very safe environment, where everybody knows everybody. If you decide to stay in this part of Poli Chrysochous, you will very easily end up finding yourself saluting and talking to everybody you meet!
The beaches in this area are not organized, but they are very clean, quiet, and nice to visit.
Mavralis Beach Argaka
After Polis town, towards Argaka village, at Limni area. Limni was a copper mine for many years. The Limni pier, which was totally reconstructed, reminds the era when cargo ships came here to take copper minerals for processing abroad. The Limni pier is adjacent to Mavralis beach and is worth your visit. It is a very popular place to take pictures..
Argaka public beach
Virtually the whole beachfront of Argaka village is a huge beach. It stretches for about 4km and is mainly a sandy beach, with rocky pieces and pieces of pebbles. The beach is another place where the Careta-Careta turtles come and lay eggs in Cyprus. There are a few places along the beachfront of Argaka, where you can sit for a refreshment or a lite meal.
